The Nursing Quality Manager (NQM) will report to the CHS Director of Quality and Performance Improvement with a matrix reporting to the CHS System Director of Nursing Education and Professional Practice. This role will oversee all nurse-sensitive indicators to include all hospital patient falls Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI), Central Line Associated Blood Infections (CLABSI), Clostridium Difficile Infections (CDIFF), and Hospital Acquired Pressure Injuries (HAPIs) Surgical Site infections amongst others. The NQM, will review high-incidence units of the identified NSI and provide nursing education at the direction of the System Director of Nursing Education and Professional Practice, complete apparent cause analysis, data analysis, and report on relevant patient care outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- The role is to be a leader in the implementation of evidence-based practices affecting nursing practice. Provides education, training, clinical support, and collaborates with nursing leaders and bedside staff in establishing, identifying, and developing standards for evidence-based nursing practices impacting quality outcomes.
- Partners with nurse leadership, nursing staff, providers, families, and caregivers to review case studies, identify process improvements and implement evidence-based clinical interventions in a safe, effective, patient-centered manner.

- The role participates in the risk management reduction strategies with the Risk Management team and the Chief Nursing Officer to reduce exposure to the nursing practice.
- Monitor and report on the progress of action items associated with debriefs and apparent cause analysis, including tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and nurse sensitive indicators (NSIs), to ensure areas of opportunity are mitigated to the highest extent possible.
- Identify training needs and opportunities for staff to enhance their understanding and skills associated with risk mitigation and process improvement. Lean Six Sigma proficiency.
Required Skills and Experience:

NYS licensed/registered (or eligible) Registered Nurse required. Education and experience may be considered interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.

Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) within 2 years of hire.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally.
Location and Travel Requirements:
- Onsite with hybrid availability
Pay Range Disclosure:
- $100,000 to $125,000 per year
