Certified Medication Technician

Job Summary:
CARS' Certified Med Techs are compassionate, provide direct care for and are interested in working with individuals in recovery from addiction.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Education or equivalent. NYS Certified Medication Aide/Technician. CPR/First Aid certified or able to be certified within the first month of employment.

Desired Qualifications:
One (1) year experience as a medication aid and one (1) year experience with SUD/Addiction Recovery.

Knowledge:
A basic understanding of addiction & recovery issues is essential. Knowledge of group process,
strength-based principles of treatment, and an individualized approach to treatment is desired

Skills:
Excellent interpersonal skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to multitask, crisis intervention skills, group skills, ability to maintain healthy & appropriate treatment boundaries, utilization of computer for documentation and communication, able to be proactive
team player, and able to represent the agency well.

Key Tasks:
1. Oversee self-administration of medication
2. Monitor the effects of medication
3. Positive role model for clients
4. Ensure medication carts are organized, clean, and assist with med cart audits
5. Provide accurate counts of all medications (inventory)
6. Assist nurses and/or milieu staff with any other duties as assigned (team player)
