The Director of Clinical Operations is the leader of the Clinical Operations Office, who will report to the Chief Nursing Officer. This Director is responsible for promoting and maintaining clinical quality by leading efforts to support patient care areas with key functions. They will lead the performance and daily activities of the Nursing Supervisors, Cayuga Health Enterprise Support System -CHESS Team, Transfer Center and Safety Monitor Programs. This leader builds and maintains the team responsible for providing administrative supervision across CHS hospitals with delegated authority to lead acute care operations. They also build and maintain a team of experienced RNs known as CHESS Float Pool who possess increased competency and flexibility needed to work in multiple departments and roles across the organization and/or system as needed to maintain operations. The Clinical Operations leader acts as the primary representative and contact for health system leaders on the status of clinical staffing, bed management, and hospital capacity. The team is responsible for balancing clinical staffing across the organization, providing contingency staffing as required, managing bed assignments and resources, facilitating patient progression through the hospital, and monitoring patients in the clinical setting to promote their safety.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- RN License in the State of New York
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) with 5 years of acute care RN experience OR ASN with a Bachelor's Degree in another field.
- Minimum of 3 years of acute care experience as an RN
- Minimum of 2 years as an Administrative Nursing Supervisor, or similar position with a demonstrated level of operational leadership and resources decision making
- Successful completion of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Administrative Supervisor Leadership Course within one (2) year of hire
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous leadership experience
- Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN), or Master's Degree in business, administration, or leadership
- Experience in patient capacity and throughput factors; knowledge of the requirements and processes for transferring patients in or to a higher level of care
- Demonstrated interpersonal relationships in a manner, which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution and facilitates staff mentoring and development.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities and the ability to work in stressful conditions.
- Demonstrated supervisor or management experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 pounds), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
