Job Summary: Professional position that is responsible for assisting in the overall operation of the Medical Center's accounting, reporting and control functions. Assist in the accounting, reporting, and control functions of Cayuga Medical Center Foundation, Cayuga Medical Office Building Associates, Tompkins Office Management Systems, Visiting Nurse Services (VNS), Cayuga Medical Equipment (DME), and Island Health & Fitness.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Manage staff (Assistant Controller, Sr. Accountants and Grant Accountants) Responsible for hiring, supervision, training and evaluation of all assigned staff.
- Reviews and oversees daily, monthly, and annual financial transactions, including all financial statement package production.
- Prepares detailed analyses of financial statements to reflect variances in income, expenditures, and capital asset values from previous periods.
- Responsible for filing of all Medical Center's tax submissions. Lead person in preparing 990, and 990 schedules - oversees all 990 processes as well as tax filings as required for the for profit entities.
- Responsible for annual audits of Medical Center, VNS, CMC Foundation, CMOBA & TOMS, Cayuga Medical Equipment (DME). Assist with IHF annual audit, as necessary.
- Responsible for filing of Cayuga Medical Center's annual cost report to CMS & NYS
- Assist in any filing of third party appeals
- Collaborate on cost analysis of existing and new services, including preparing, reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting financial and statistical data.
- Responsible for overseeing and assisting with operating and capital budget preparation for CMC, CMA, TOMS, CMOBA, VNS, CMC Foundation, and Cayuga Medical Equip. Also assist in some financial reporting & budgets for Island Health & Fitness, Rasa Spa and professional service agreements as needed.
- Oversee and assign staff to complete all required surveys that are the Finance department's responsibility (i.e. IRS, NYSDOL, CMS, NYS Medicaid, Iroquois, HANYS, Census Bureau, AHA, etc.)
- Administrator for internet banking for all banking accounts related to Cayuga Medical Center, Cayuga Medical Associates, CMOBA, TOMS, CMC Foundation, CMC Medical Staff Cayuga Medical Equipment and VNS.
- Assist in research of regulatory compliance issues
- Work closely with all members of CMC and CHS leadership teams
- Responsible for CMC's record retention policies and procedures for the Finance department
- Manage any benchmarking projects the organization may participate
- Coordinates the activities of the department with all other functions and acts as the department representative at all department head or middle management meetings and attends administrative staff meetings.  Prepares and processes interdepartmental and outside memos and correspondence.
Requirements:
Education - Bachelor's degree required, Master's or CPA preferred
Experience - 5 years or more of supervisory experience in a business/accounting environment
Licensure - N/A
Physical Requirements - 90% sitting 10% standing
