Staff Pharmacists/Inpatient fill orders for medications, monitor patient medication therapies, provide drug information, and supervise and direct support personnel for acute care patients and long -term care residents. In the absence of the inpatient pharmacy manager, a staff pharmacist/inpatient may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the inpatient pharmacy manager.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Interprets medication orders and transcribes to computerized patient profiles accurately, maintaining complete patient medication profiles.
  • Prepares and dispenses medications, including sterile IV preparations, using proper techniques.
  • Issues controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records as required by law.
  • Monitors medication therapy regimens for interactions, allergies, appropriateness, and therapeutic duplication.
  • Provides clinical consultation, recommends evidence-based medication regimens, and suggests cost-effective therapeutic alternatives.
  • Assists with pharmacokinetic and anticoagulation consult services, and reports adverse drug events and medication errors accurately and timely
  • Detects, reports, and documents adverse drug events and medication errors promptly.
  • Provides clinical consultation to nursing and provider staff, recommending evidence-based therapies, monitoring plans, and cost-effective alternatives; attends ABC alert codes and is flexible with additional responsibilities.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Education - Graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy with either a BS pharmacy or PharmD required.
  • Licensure - Currently licensed in the State of New York.
  • Demonstrates flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Health-system pharmacy experience preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.

Location and Travel Requirements:

  • Onsite at Schuyler Hospital - 220 Steuben Street Montour Falls, NY 14865
  • Shift: Mon-Fri 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, no holidays, no evenings, no weekends

Pay Range Disclosure

  • $115,398.50 TO $145,600.00 per year
