The Robotics Coordinator and RNFA is responsible for the leadership and management of all things related to the Robotics program as well as providing the support of a RN First Assist to our physicians. This person will collaborate with the Surgical Services leadership team, the Surgical Services nursing team, Materials Management team and our physicians to ensure that the needs of the robotics programs and our patients are met.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinating and supporting surgeon development and training in daVinci surgery
- Develop competencies and the training process for nursing staff for daVinci surgery
- Provides and coordinates scheduled daVinci educational opportunities to the medical and nursing staff
- Thorough knowledge of the daVinci surgeries performed at Cayuga Medical Center
- Collaboration with the OR manager to facilitate proper staffing (circulator, scrub and first assistant) for daVinci surgical cases
- Collaboration with sterile processing staff regarding cleaning and sterilization of the robotic instrumentation based on best practices
- Work with materials management to order accessories and supplies as well as managing par levels in the OR
- Collaborates with the medical staff on issues associated with patient care in regards to robotic surgery
OR Nurses can take the role of:
Circulating Nurse, with the following additional duties:
Assists in positioning, responding to comfort/safety of patient, provides for accurate care and handling of specimens, Observes and enforces strict standards of asepsis, Observes, checks and monitors all equipment used during surgery to confirm they are running smoothly, Handles patient documentation, Inventories all items both pre- and post-surgery.
Scrub Nurse, with the following additional duties:
Selects and handles instruments and supplies used for the operation, passing them to surgeon, General Healthcare Resources, Inventories all items both pre- and post-surgery, maintain standards of care for the operative patient following AORN standards/recommendations.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred; RNFA preferred.
- 1-3 years OR experience preferred.
- Current NYS RN license; RNFA Certification
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring patients may involve lifting of up to 50 or more pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
