This position serves as a liaison between medical services professionals, administration, and medical staff leadership regarding credentialing and privileging, all Medical Staff functions and Continuing Medical Education (CME) program. The role assists the Director in selecting, training, and retaining highly qualified personnel. It also works as a team member and actively encourages the use of team-building skills. The position is readily available to staff and acts as a knowledge source and problem solver. Additionally, it oversees departmental activities to ensure quality in conducting, maintaining, and communicating physician credentialing, privileging, and primary source verifications. This role serves as the leading resource in the department and collaborates with others to advance the quality of practitioners and enhance patient safety within the facility.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct and manage credentialing and privileging processes, ensuring applicant eligibility, completeness of application materials, and processing privilege requests.
- Perform primary source verification to ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, investigating discrepancies and managing expirables.
- Oversee clinical competency evaluations and peer reviews, coordinating with physician leaders and communicating findings to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards by developing and updating governing documents, monitoring sanctions, and facilitating due process.
- Manage departmental operations, including credentialing database oversight, budget preparation, staffing plans, and auditing credentialing processes.
- Collaborate with physician leaders to develop a criteria-based privileging system and manage the initial and reappointment processes uniformly.
- Ensure continuous accreditation compliance by auditing credentialing entities, reviewing practice sites, and coordinating onboarding and continuing education activities for medical staff.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Credentialing or medical staff experience.
- Ability to communicate affectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and draw inference from research findings and to prepare reports.
- Ability to use independent judgment to manage and impart confidential information.
- Database management skills, including querying, reporting querying and document generation.
- Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience using Cactus and/or MDStaff credentialing databases.
- Knowledge of accrediting and regulatory requirements for healthcare organizations
- Valid Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) credentials. Certification must be achieved within two years of becoming eligible for the relevant exam.

Compensation Disclosure:
- $60,000 to $70,000 per year
