Unit Clerk/Nursing Assistant Hybrid- 4 North Med/Surg- Full Time- Days

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Direct Patient Care: Support activities of daily living (ADLs), such as toileting, ambulating, repositioning, monitoring, and recording intake/output, recording patient weight, and obtaining vital signs. Report abnormal findings or changes in the patient's condition to the RN.
• Clerical Support: Order supplies, answer telephones, deliver messages, make charts, coordinate and organize transfer paperwork, and manage call bell responses.
• Administrative Assistance: Make appointments, call providers, assist with prior authorizations, and coordinate bed assignments with Charge Nurses.
• Patient Education and Organization: Reinforce education with patients (e.g., incentive spirometer use, fall prevention), maintain clean and organized bedside areas, and round intentionally on each patient every hour.
• Interdepartmental Communication: Liaise with maintenance, housekeeping, dietary, security, and other departments as necessary.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA).
• Prior patient care, clerical, or customer service experience.
• BLS certification (training provided if needed).

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard).
• Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require.
• Capacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Location and Shift Information:

• Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center: 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850.
• Shift: Three 12hr shifts per week 6:45am - 7pm, every third weekend as assigned
• 0% travel can be expected in this role.

Pay Range Disclosure:

• Standard Rate of $19.50 - $25.50 per hour plus benefits.
